How do you sharpen a straight razor?

I bought a straight razor and it isn’t as effective as when I bought it a few weeks ago. How can I sharpen it myself without having to take it somewhere?

You need to use a leather strop every time you shave (before shaving). You should also get a sharpening stone and use that whenever stropping doesn’t seem to get it sharp enough or if you ever chip the edge. If you take care of your straight razor, you will probably never need to take it in for sharpening.
