Should I see a dermatologist about shaving problems?
I don’t know if I have ingrown hairs or shaving bumps. It looks like pimples on the side of my face and there are a lot of small bumps. I don’t know what happened, my face wasn’t like this like a few months ago.
I’m Asian and I’m 17 years old (if it matters). Anyway, I shaved the side of my face for the first time a few months ago. I used Nivea Multi-Protecting Balm aftershave for the first time as well because I thought it might help to prevent any problems but it seems like my face just keeps getting worse. I have now stopped shaving because I’m afraid of getting more bumps.
Could it be that my skin is sensitive to this product? I’m not sure if this after-shave is alcohol free or not. Would it help if I only use alcohol free after-shave in the future? Should I go to a men’s beauty salon or see a dermatologist about this problem? I really don’t want to keep going back for many treatments or anything. I was also wondering, is there any cream or any other type of product that will help solve my problem?
There are many really good treatments for ingrown hairs. They include Tend Skin, Priva Shave, Kalo IHT and Ingrow Go.
You can also buy special pointed tweezers for removing ingrown hairs with minimal damage to surrounding skin tissue.
I would also recommend masaging Ultra Shave into your skin after you shave. It has wonderful skin healing properties and contains grape seed extract, which is 15000 times stronger than vitamin E. It has completely natural ingredients and is Parabenz free.
Go to a dermatologist. I had a friend who was African American and he had them really, really bad. He went to the doc, and it healed up fairly well.
I think you should see a dermatologist who can tell you for sure what the problem is & can treat it.
See your general practitioner or a dermatologist. If you’re getting ingrown hairs perhaps you’re shaving too close. As an Asian you should be able to get away with shaving less often or not as close a shave.
You said it’s been going on for a couple months? I would go to the dermatologist.
I don’t see how the beauty salon would help.
The military treats these types of issues seriously. First, stop shaving. Check your diet, you’re body might be reacting to food allergens.
Switch your after-shave, or use none at all and see if it makes a difference. If it doesn’t, see a dermatologist. But I bet if you went with an alcohol free-fragrance free shaving cream and aftershave you’d be good.
You should try something that has a neutral PH and if that don’t work stick to electric shaving.
Yeh, I got to say, food allergens, or even pet allergens could be another cause. I do think you need to visit a professional dermatologist – if you can afford it.
I would go to a dermatologist to make sure you get exactly what you need so not to damage your skin.
I think that any relevant change in the skin after shaving is reason to seek medical advice. I’ve had allergies in the face because of the blade, and it forced me to do treatment for the skin.
Honestly, From my experience going to dermatologist may not do much good here…I once went and they just treat pimples from shaving, the same as acne, so they’ll probably suggest over the counter creams!
If it gets bad I would go but you may want to try some over the counter options first.
